Throughout my childhood, I dedicated my time and energy to horses. Any unclaimed moment would find me at the stables taking a riding lesson, grooming and tacking up horses for other riders, cleaning tack and sweeping out the cross ties and barn, hacking a horse, shuffling turnouts, cleaning the stables office, or just holding a lead line and letting a horse graze. When I was home I could often be found riding my pony through the vineyard, cleaning out her paddock, and visiting with her. I even remember bringing tack to clean on family vacations. My friends either liked horses from the start or I would convince them to let me give them a riding lesson in hopes of them catching the excitement. 

 

As an adult, I briefly stepped away to get my M.Ed and teaching credential but it wasn’t long before I felt the horses calling yet again. This time, though, the focus had shifted. It was no longer just about horses, but also about the people. Trailhead Stables was born out of combining a love for horses with a love for people. We strive to create a warm and welcoming environment that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of horse and rider along with creating clear communication between the two.
